Partial Dentures

A partial denture is a dental appliance that can replace one or more missing teeth. It is supported and held in place by the surrounding tissue and remaining teeth. This appliance can either be fixed or removable. A removable partial denture or bridge is composed of replacement teeth attached to a pink or gum-colored plastic base. Sometimes, a metal framework is used to keep the denture secure in the mouth. These are used when some natural teeth remain in either the upper or lower jaw. On the other hand, a fixed bridge replaces missing teeth by placing crowns on the teeth beside the space and attaching artificial teeth to them. This bridge is then cemented into place. Partial dentures can fill in gaps created by missing teeth, while also preventing other teeth from shifting positions. A precision partial denture is removable and has internal attachments that are less visible than clasps. Dental implants are also an alternative to dentures, where implants support cemented bridges, but it may not be suitable for everyone. Implants can also be used to support dentures, providing more stability. Although implants may cost more, they offer a more natural feel compared to dentures.
